UNION VALE – A twin-engine Cessna 303 aircraft crashed into a house at 235 South Smith Street in Union Vale Saturday afternoon with two people killed.
The plane, en route to Sky Acres Airport in Lagrangeville from Republic Airport in Farmingdale, crashed at 4:28 p.m., FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen told Mid-Hudson News.
Three people were in the aircraft with one man killed and two other passengers injured, State Police Trooper Steven Nevel said. One man inside the house was also killed, one occupant is missing and a third is in critical condition, he said. It was not immediately known how many people were in the home.
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash.
Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro said many of the firefighters on the scene had planned on attending the annual county Volunteer Firemen’s Association Parade in Red Hook, but, “instead, they once again answer the call of duty.”
