ALBANY – A Nanuet man was sentenced on Wednesday in Albany federal court to time served – 11 days in jail – followed by one year of supervised release and fined $4,000 for transporting illegal aliens within the United States for money.

On June 2-3, 2018, Raul Nolasco, 46, drove to a spot near the US-Canadian border and picked up illegal aliens on the United States side of the border. He intended to drive them to Long Beach, New York and was expected to be paid $400-$500.

But, Nolasco was stopped and arrested by Border Patrol agents before he could complete the trip.

The illegal aliens, who are citizens of Honduras, pled guilty to the misdemeanor of improper entry by an alien and were sentenced in June to time served.

The case was investigated by Border Patrol and prosecuted by Assistant US Attorney Alicia Giglio Suarez.
