NEW CITY – Ramapo Police are investigating the death of a 73-year-old New Hempstead woman who was struck by a vehicle as she walked through the parking lot at the Ramapo Senior Center on New Hempstead Road in New City on Thursday.
She had just attended a program at the facility.
“We are all deeply heartbroken by this terrible accident,” said Rockland County Meals on Wheels President Julia Schwartz-Leeper. “The safety and well-being of our participants and staff is first and foremost.”
She said her agency is providing counseling opportunities for all participants and staff at the center.
