Delgado off to Israel and Palestinian territories

The trip is organized by the American Israel Education Foundation, an independent, nonprofit charitable organization

KINGSTON – U.S. Congressman Antonio Delgado (D, NY-19) and his wife Lacey Schwartz Delgado will join 41 House Democrats, led by House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, on travel to Israel and the West Bank.

“My wife and I are raising our young boys in the Jewish faith, grounding them in an understanding of respect for all religions and with a deep appreciation for Jewish history and traditions,” said Delgado. “We are traveling to Israel, one of America’s closest allies, with fellow Members of Congress in order to better understand the history of the region, grow our own personal connection to the Jewish faith and hear directly from Israelis and Palestinians who experience the complex dynamics on the ground every day.”

The delegation will meet with senior Israeli and Palestinian government officials, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, opposition leader Benny Gantz, and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

The group will also meet with young Palestinian entrepreneurs, Israeli civil society leaders, and peace activists.

During the trip, House members will visit Israel’s borders with Lebanon and Syria and see an Iron Dome battery. The delegation will also visit important historical and cultural sites, including the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial.
