WHITE PLAINS – Almost $500,000 in federal funding has been awarded to protect nonprofits in Congresswoman Nita Lowey’s district including Rockland County and part of Westchester.

The awards include $100,000 each for Bet Torah in Mount Kisco; Greenburgh Hebrew Center in Dobbs Ferry; Hebrew Congregation of North Tarrytown and Tarrytown, Temple Beth Abraham in Tarrytown; and Temple Israel Center in White Plains; $49,190 for YMCA of White Plains and Central Westchester in White Plains, and $50,000 for Congregation Ohaiv Shalom of New Hempstead in Spring Valley.

“As chairwoman of the House Appropriations Committee, I have fought tooth and nail to ensure investment in critical homeland security funding so that nonprofit organizations have critical resources to protect against acts of have and terror,” said Lowey. “Together, these grants are a major victory to protect residents and community organizations in Westchester and Rockland.”
