Monroe sex offender charged with transporting minor for sex

WHITE PLAINS – A Monroe man has been arrested and charged federally with transporting a minor from Monroe to West Virginia for the purpose of engaging in criminal sexual activity.

Eduardo Talentino, 54, who was convicted of rape of a child in Massachusetts in 1997, was also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. In the rape case, he was sentenced to four years and one day in prison.

According to the complaint filed in White Plains federal court, from about June 22, 2018 to June 25, 2018, Talentino transported a 16-year-old from Monroe where he engaged and attempted to engage in illegal sexual activity with the victim.

It is also alleged that from August 2018 to about February 2019, he possessed a .32 caliber revolver at his home in Monroe.

He is charged with one count of transporting a minor with intend to engage in criminal sexual activity, which carries a sentence of from 10 years to life in prison.

Assisting the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York and the FBI, in this case were the District Attorneys’ Offices in Orange and Sullivan Counties, State Police, the Orange County Child Abuse Unit, Orange County Child Protective Services and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
