BETHEL – The Bethel Post Office on Route 17B will offer a special pictorial commemorative postmark celebrating the 50th anniversary of Woodstock.

White Lake Postmaster Maria Forlenza announced the postmark will be offered from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, August 16.

The Postal Service is also unveiling a Woodstock Forever Stamp, which will be unveiled on Thursday, August 8 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Art director Antonio Alcala designed the stamp artwork which features an image of a dove along with the words “3 Days of Peace and Music,” evocative of the original 1969 promotional poster for the festival.

In the art, the words are stacked in the background in brilliant colors along with the year 1969, USA and Forever – the value of the stamp. The white dove stands in the foreground.

The stamps will be available for purchase on August 8. Pre-orders can be reserved through The Postal Store at www.usps.com/shop  .

The commemorative postmark may also be obtained by mail order request. Customers can place stamps on an envelope or postcard, without addresses for postmark, as long as they supply a larger envelope with adequate postage and their return address. Once they commemorative postmark is applied, the card or letter will be mailed back in the larger envelope enclosed by the sender.
