KIRYAS JOEL – State Police identified the child killed when a large cabinet fell on her at a girls’ school in Kiryas Joel on Tuesday.
Ruchy Friedrich, 8, was in a classroom with two of her teachers when she climbed onto a chair to retrieve an item from the cabinet, which was affixed to the wall, when it broke free and landing on her causing severe head trauma, police said.
She was transported by Hatzolah EMS to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern where she was pronounced dead.
The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the head with investigation determining the incident was an accident.
