MONTICELLO – A Sullivan County grand jury indicted a former employee of a facility operated by the state Office for People with Development Disabilities on sexual abuse charges.

Frank Carvajal, 30, of Monticello, was indicted on charges of sexual abuse, endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person and two counts of sexual abuse.

Carvajal allegedly had sexual contact with a physically helpless resident of the facility. He was arrested following an investigation by State Police and is free on $20,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.

If convicted of the top count of the indictment, he faces up to seven years in state prison.

“The allegations in this case are very serious involving a caregiver of a victim who was physically helpless and a resident of a group home,” said District Attorney James Farrell.
