TOWN OF HALCOTT – A Fleischmanns man has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty following an investigation by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA.
Authorities said William Hrazanek, 73, was charged after authorities conducted a warrant search on his property in Halcott and found a horse in a metal building, severely malnourished and kept in very poor conditions.
The animal was taken to a safe location to be treated by a veterinarian.
The investigation is continuing and there could be more charges to follow, police said.
Hrazanek was arraigned in Halcott town court and released on his own recognizance.
The Halcott animal control officer and Greene County District Attorney’s Office assisted the sheriff’s office and human society/SPCA in the investigation and arrest of Hrazanek on Wednesday.
