POUGHKEEPSIE – An audit of the Dutchess County Office for the Aging by County Comptroller Robin Lois finds a need for additional support, supervision and training for department fiscal operations and recommends strengthened accounting policies and procedures.

“It is my priority to ensure proper processing and accounting of expenses and revenue claiming for all county departments,” said Lois. “Upon discovery of processing and accounting issues we reached out to the administration to facilitate getting the Office for the Aging needed assistance.”

County Executive Marcus Molinaro welcomed the comptroller’s review.

“This is what audits are about,” Molinaro said. “She, with our staff, identified areas of weakness; we recognized those and immediately began to work with her on addressing them and frankly, this is how good government is supposed to work. She does the review, identifies areas where we can make improvement and we commit to making those improvements together.”

The audit also said accounting processes and procedures for special events and donated funds should be strengthened.
