MONTICELLO – Everywhere you turn in the Hudson Valley of late there is a project under development or recently completed to attract new jobs, residents and tourists.

That development must rely on transportation and that is being improved across the board, said Governor Andrew Cuomo.

“Stewart Airport is going to be stronger and better than ever before; it’s an international airport,” Cuomo said. “We are investing in it, making it better, making it faster. Route 17 we are expanding. The Woodbury interchange we are doing, electronic tolling all along the Thruway.”

Construction continues on the redesigned Woodbury interchange of Route 17 and the Thruway

There is a regional push to secure funding to add a third lane in each direction on Route 17 from Harriman to Monticello. The lobbying effort is seeking the funding over a five-year period.
