Three indicted in separate Sullivan County gun possession cases

MONTICELLO – Three men were indicted by a Sullivan County grand jury in separate cases on charges that they illegally possessed guns.

Daquann Staten, 18, of Monticello, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of stolen property and resisting arrest. The indictment alleges that Staten possessed two firearms on two dates in the Village of Monticello. If convicted, Staten could face up to 19 years in state prison.  He was released from the Sullivan County Jail after posting $50,000 bail.

Jeremiah Fannings, 22, of Fallsburg, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of marijuana. The indictment alleges he possessed a loaded .380 caliber firearm while in Monticello. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison. He is currently in the county jail.

Colon Dacosta, 31, of Fallsburg, was indicted on charges of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of stolen property, criminally using drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of marijuana. If convicted, he could face up to 24 years in prison. He is currently in the county jail.
