ALBANY – Sullivan County outpaced all other counties in the state in terms of new jobs in the 12 months ending in June, the state Labor Department reported Thursday.
Sullivan County had a 12 percent rate of job growth. The county has outdistanced all other counties in new jobs ever since Resorts World Catskills opened a year-and-a-half ago.
Ulster County ranked second in the state with 3.0 percent job growth in June.
The Dutchess-Putnam Metropolitan Division saw 1.9 percent job growth while Columbia County had 1.7 percent growth.
Greene County jobs remained flat while the Orange-Rockland-Westchester Metro Area fell by 0.2 percent.
For the 12-month period ending in June, private sector jobs in the Hudson Valley increased by 5,400, or 0.7 percent, to 825,000.
Gains were largest in educational and health services (+5,500: leisure and hospitality (+4,200); financial activities (+1,300); and natural resources, mining and construction (+1,100).
Losses were mostly centered in trade, transportation and utilities (-4,900); professional and business services (-1,000); and information (-500).
