BEACON – In the last six years, Dutchess County Government has directed more than $2 million in Community Development Block Grant and Municipal Innovation Grant funding to projects in the City of Beacon and County Executive Marcus Molinaro and Mayor Randy Casale spent part of Wednesday looking at some of those projects.

Molinaro said after their walking tour those grants make “a huge impact” in local communities and neighborhoods.

“The City of Beacon has been a tremendous partner and has really worked hard to make use of that partnership and leverage and implement and appropriate those dollars in a way that are making a real improvement in the lives of city residents,” Molinaro said.

Funding has gone to, among other projects, sidewalks and decorative lighting, sanitary sewer upgrades, park improvements and road construction.

Earlier this week, Republican Molinaro’s Democratic opponent in the November election, Joseph Ruggiero, toured Pawling with local business people to hear their concerns and needs going forward.
