CRAWFORD – A New Hartford, New York man was arrested by Crawford Town Police on a charge of leaving the scene of a personal injury auto accident.

Shortly before 10:00 Saturday morning, July 13, police responded to a call of a car-pedestrian accident on Center Street in Pine Bush.

A Nissan Rogue traveling down Center Street left the road and struck a 59-year-old man who was standing in his front yard. The driver of the vehicle, Richard Rodriguez, 31, fled the scene on foot before the police arrived. He was arrested about an hour and a half later, a mile from the scene.

Rodriguez was also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and several vehicle and traffic violations and was sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $3,000 cash bail.

The victim suffered injuries to his collarbone, neck and ribs, was treated at the scene by Pine Bush Ambulance Corps members and transported to Orange Regional Medical Center where his condition was listed on Monday as stable.
