Man charged with kidnapping in domestic violence incident

HILLSDALE – State Police from the Livingston barracks have arrested a Copake man on a felony kidnapping charge as well as a misdemeanor for obstruction of breathing.

On July 8 at about 9:30 p.m., troopers responded to a domestic dispute on Whippoorwhill Road in the Town of Hillsdale. Investigation determined that Thomas Golden, 35, of Copake, had used physical force and threatened the use of deadly force, to abduct the victim. Both parties know each other.

After several hours in captivity the victim was able to flee to safety, and contacted State Police.

Golden was found and taken into custody at an address on Route 23 in the Town of Copake.

He was remanded to the Columbia County Jail without bail.
