KINGSTON – A former janitor at the Northeast Center for Special Care was sentenced in Ulster County Court on Wednesday to attempted sexual abuse for having sexual contact with a patient who was incapable of consent by reason of being physically helpless.
Juan Torres-Hernandez, 49, was sentenced to four years in state prison followed by 10 years of post-release supervision.
During the attack, another staff member walked in and immediately reported it to authorities.
Torres-Hernandez must register as a sex offender. A stay away order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.
