POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess County Central Labor Council has endorsed Democrat Joseph Ruggiero in his bid to unseat incumbent Republican Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro in the fall election.
The council represents thousands of working families in the county.
“Joe Ruggiero is what Dutchess County needs during these times,” said Roberto Pinto, president of the labor council. “We have carefully followed the positions of elected officials and candidates on issues like rights of workers to organize, living wages, PLAs, as well as other issues that impact the lives of the people of Dutchess,” he said. “We believe Joe is the person to take the county executive office and make it a vehicle for change and a symbol of effective county government.”
Ruggiero said everyone is “fighting to give the working families in Dutchess a better quality of life. When we elect our county leadership, we expect them to have our best interests at heart, to provide the resources we need and expect from our government, and to above all listen.”
He said he will work with the labor council “to advance the interests of working families.”
