Ulster Sheriff’s office reports phone scam

KINGSTON – the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office received reports on July 3 from area residents regarding suspicious voicemails they received from someone purporting to be a sergeant from this agency. The caller appears to be targeting mental health professionals.

If you receive a call from someone identifying himself/herself as an employee of this agency, politely request to confirm his/her identity by calling our 24 hour communications line 845-338-3640. If possible, obtain the telephone number the person is calling from.

Do not provide any information to the person prior to confirming his/her employment with the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.
