POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Emergency Response Commissioner Dana Smith says the AT&T 911 system has been restored and may be used in the event of emergencies.

The communications company did not provide him with a reason for the outage earlier today.

POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Emergency Response is advising AT&T cell phone users to dial 845-471-1414 to report emergencies.

Commissioner Dana Smith said AT&T is reporting nationwide issues that may affect the caller’s ability to dial 911 for emergencies, and Smith recommends that AT&T wireless customers use the local number.

Smith noted that AT&T has not provided a timeframe as to when the problem will be fixed.
