SAUGERTIES – A Saugerties man was issued several tickets after the dump truck he was driving while towing a trailer with an excavator was involved in an accident at 59 Manorville Road in Saugerties on Thursday afternoon.

Police said Jesse Bach, 29, of Saugerties, was driving a Mack dump truck while pulling a trailer carrying a large excavator, southbound on Manorville Road, when the trailer failed, causing the machine to hit utility wires.

The excavator broke free and overturned in the road. The arm on the machine ripped down telephone and utility wires, causing a power outage in the area.

Bach was uninjured.

The road was closed for hours while crews worked to repair utility lines and remove the excavator.

Following a preliminary investigation, he was cited for having four bald tires on the truck, an expired inspection, speed not reasonable and prudent, and pulling a trailer with an expired registration.

Saugerties Police were assisted by the State Police Commercial Enforcement Unit and additional charges are pending.
