Funeral service set for volunteer fireman killed in freak accident

PORT JERVIS – Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home in Port Jervis for city volunteer fireman Nicholas McKeon, who was killed on Sunday, June 23 in a freak accident.

McKeon was struck and killed by an ambulance leaving the bay in response to a call for service.

He was 20 years old.

McKeon was a member and past president of the Delaware Engine Co. #2 of the Port Jervis Fire Department and a former member of Howard Wheat Hose Co. #4.

He worked as a lumber associate at a Westfall Township, Pennsylvania store.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. n Thursday. Firematic services will be held at 7:15 p.m.

Following funeral services on Friday, officiated by Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst, interment will be t St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Jervis.
