Light turnout in area primary elections

MID-HUDSON – Voter turnout in Tuesday’s primary elections was light.

While most races saw one candidate defeating another, in the Town of Pleasant Valley Independence Party primary, Mark Figliozzi and Frank Susczynski each garnered 25 votes.

New Windsor  – former town supervisor George Meyers defeated incumbent George Green in a Republican primary.

Wappinger – Supervisor Richard Thurston beat former supervisor Lori Jiava on the Republican primary.

Fishkill – Ozzy Albra took the Independence and Conservative Party primaries.

Montgomery  – Brian Maher won the Republican primary or supervisor over Rodney Winchell.

Greenville – David Zubikowski defeated Geoffrey Stafford in the Republican primary for supervisor.

Goshen (Town) – Incumbent Republican Supervisor Douglas Bloomfeld defeated Joseph Betro in the GOP primary.

Cornwall – Incumbent Supervisor Richard Randazzo defeated Michael Summerfield in the Democratic primary.

Newburgh (City) – Omari Shakur and Anthony Grice topped a Democratic three-way race for two councilmember-at-large posts.

Middletown – Jerry Kleiner and Andrew Green captured the two seats in a three-way Ward 2 Democratic primary.

Marbletown  – Supervisor, Doug Adams defeated Richard Parete in the Democratic primary.

Saugerties – Fred Costello Jr. defeated Paul Andreassen in the Independence Party town supervisor primary.

Sullivan County Legislature – Incumbent Nadia Rajsz defeated former legislator Kathleen LaBuda in the Democratic primary while LaBuda took the Independence Party primary.
