KINGSTON – A week doesn’t go by in the region that a bear, often a cub, wanders into civilization looking for food.

Well, at 3:50 p.m. on Monday, a cub was running around the playground area at Kingston Point.

Kingston Police officers responded to the scene. The bear had grown tired of playing around and decided to run into the woods near the bike track.

Less than 15 minutes later, at Dallas Hot Weiners at 490 Broadway, an unwelcome visitor in the form of a large black snake slithered to the front door. Patrons inside were reluctant to leave.

Thanks to a Kingston Police officer, the non-venomous snake was moved to a more “snake-friendly” area and the diners went on their way after enjoying lunch.
