Investigation continues into ambulance-related fatality

PORT JERVIS – Police continue to investigate the death of a 22-year-old Port Jervis man who was struck while he was believed to have been sleeping in front of a bay door of the Port Jervis Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

The incident at 5:49 a.m. Sunday occurred as the ambulance was on the way for a call for service.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by Port Jervis Police, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office and the county medical examiner’s office.

The victim’s name was not immediately released.
