CARMEL – On Saturday morning, Judge James Reitz’ body was taken by honor guard from Putnam Hospital Center to the Cargain Funeral Home in Carmel in a motorcade consisting of members of law enforcement and a motorcycle caravan of members of the Putnam Chapter of the FOP.
Reitz, 57, who suffered a massive heart attack and died suddenly Friday while presiding over a family court matter, will be laid to rest Tuesday following a funeral service at St. James Church in Carmel.
On Monday, his body will lie in state at the Putnam Bureau of Emergency Services Training and Operations Center auditorium in Carmel from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Thousands of well wishers are expected to pay their respects to the Reitz family at that time.
