Funeral service set for local helicopter pilot killed in Manhattan crash

POUGHKEEPSIE – Funeral services for Timothy McCormack of Clinton Corners, who was killed on June 10 when his helicopter crashed on the roof of a Manhattan building, will be held on Tuesday, June 18 at St. Mary’s Church, 231 Church Street in Poughkeepsie.

McCormack was a Poughkeepsie native who attended Arlington High School where he played football and rowed crew. He was an experienced helicopter and fixed wing pilot for 20 years and was a certified flight instructor.

McCormack was the past chief of East Clinton Fire Department and served for 10 years as its chief. He was also a member of the LaGrange Fire Department.

Prior to him entering the aviation field, he worked with his father, Thomas, at the Main Grill in the City of Poughkeepsie.

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 17 at Miller Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue in Poughkeepsie. At 7 p.m., fire company services will be held. Following Tuesday’s funeral service, interment will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery, 171 Salt Point Turnpike in Poughkeepsie.
