POUGHKEEPSIE – A Stamford man pled guilty on Thursday before Dutchess County Court Judge Peter Forman to a charge of vehicular manslaughter in connection with the death of a culinary student on December 7, 2018.

Robert Darcy, 36, was driving “heavily intoxicated, having a blood-alcohol content of more than two times the legal limit while driving south on Route 9G in Rhinebeck,” said District Attorney William Grady. “He swerved across lanes of traffic and crashed, head-on into the victim’s vehicle.”

Emily Wooton, 20, of Vermont, died at the scene.

Darcy faces from 3 ½ to 10 years in state prison when sentenced in August.
