POUGHKEEPSIE – A Poughkeepsie school teacher has been placed on administrative leave following his arrest on a charge of possession of child pornography, the city school district announced.

State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested Brian Kinsley, 34, of the Town of Shawangunk on a felony charge of possessing a sexual performance by a child. Troopers said an investigation revealed he was in possession of an inappropriate picture of a child that was downloaded from the Internet.

“Based on the information we have at this time, we do not have any reason to believe that there is a connection to Poughkeepsie students,” the district said in a statement.

The teacher’s leave is pending the outcome of the criminal investigation being conducted by State Police.
