Fatal fire in Hyde Park

HYDE PARK – Fire in Hyde Park this morning claimed one life, according to authorities.

The blaze broke out at 1185 Route 9G in a 15 foot-by-15 foot cabin at mid-morning with Roosevelt, Fairview and Hyde Park fire departments responding. When firefighters extinguished the blaze within minutes, they found a man’s body and that of a dog inside.

The identity of the victim has not been released and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and the Dutchess County Fire Investigation Unit are currently on scene to determine the cause and origin of the fatal fire.
