PORT JERVIS – As part of the upgrade of the Metro-North Railroad’s Port Jervis Line signal system, crews will continue installation work on the section of track between Campbell Hall and Otisville this weekend.

The new cab signal system needs to be in place to support Positive Train Control operations on the line.

Positive Train Control is a technology designed to reduce the potential for human error that can lead to train-involved accidents.

Crews will also replace ties on the Moodna Viaduct, which is south of the Salisbury Mills station. The viaduct has 2,300 individual bridge timbers; this weekend and next, crews will continue work on the tie replacement project.

To accommodate the work, buses will substitute for trains between Port Jervis and Harriman this weekend until 7 p.m. on Sunday. Trains will operate on normal schedules between Harriman and Hoboken.
