Stabbing suspect arrested

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – A City of Poughkeepsie man was arrested by Town of Poughkeepsie Police on felony assault charges in connection with the stabbing of another person.

Police said Richard Johnson, 29, engaged in a verbal argument around 10 p.m. on May 28 and that escalated into a physical altercation during which he allegedly stabbed the victim in the abdomen with a knife.

The victim, who sustained serious but non-fatal injuries, was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital by private vehicle.

Johnson was charged with assault and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. He is in to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail  $20,000 bond.
