POUGHKEEPSIE – City Public Safety dispatchers in Poughkeepsie received a call at approximately 11:30 Thursday morning reporting a shooting with a victim down in the vicinity of 47 Vernon Terrace.

Police Captain Richard Wilson said responding officers were able to determine that the victim had been struck by a pellet or bb that may have been discharged from a compatible weapon.

Officers set up a perimeter in the neighborhood until they could verify that there were five occupants in the townhouse at 47 Vernon Terrace.  Police believe that the shots were fired from that address and struck the victim who was across the street on his property.

The five suspects were removed from the apartment and secured while the apartment was searched.  Captain Wilson said that the incident is being investigated as a “reckless endangerment” type of incident.  The five suspects were transported to police headquarters for further investigation.
