ARDSLEY – Two police officers, both sergeants, are recovering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds following a late-night shootout with a man at the Ardsley Acres Motel. The gunman was shot and killed.

Samuel Galberth, 42, of West Haven, Connecticut, was sought in connection with more than one investigation in Connecticut and elsewhere, said Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr.

A second man, Darryl Donell Henry, 55, of New Haven, who had been in the motel with Galberth, was arrested on another interstate warrant for bank robbery. New Haven Policed said he has a New Haven robbery warrant and is a suspect in several New Haven bank robberies.

Scarpino said the two officers, one from Greenburgh PD and one from Dobbs Ferry PD, were treated and released at a local hospital.

Since this incident was a police officer involved shooting, the state attorney general’s office will be investigating it.

Police Chief Anthony Picolino said the FBI had asked local police to assist them with a federal drug warrant arrest at the motel and when officers approached, the man opened fire.

Police returned fire and Galberth was shot and killed.

Numerous police agencies were on the scene into the early morning hours. The investigation is continuing.
