NEW CITY – Rockland County Executive Edwin Day named Jacki Scott as director of the newly restored Office for People with Disabilities.

The office was eliminated as a separate department during the financial crisis by the previous administration in 2007 with the former director retiring in 2011 leaving the office defunct, Day said. “As part of our regular re-evaluation of the needs of our residents, we recognized that having a powerful advocate as director of this office is critical to serving their needs,” he said.

In her new role, Scott will work with county officials to develop policies designed to meet the needs of people with disabilities; work with community-based organizations, school districts and the Rockland County Disability Advisory Council; and serve as an informational resource and advocate for people with disabilities.

Scott previously worked as a community employment specialist at the Guidance Center of Westchester from April 2016 to May 2019.
