TOWN OF WALLKILL – Warwick Town Supervisor Michael Sweeton is “truly a hometown guy,” Orange County Partnership President Maureen Halahan said Tuesday as she presented him with this year’s Partnership Most Valuable Partner Award.

It was a double celebration for Sweeton, who was also celebrating his birthday. The 600 people in attendance, all business and political movers and shakers, joined in singing “Happy Birthday” to him.

Sweeton: “Warwick is in my veins”

“Warwick is in my veins, it has always been. It was the lessons growing up in a small town in a great part of Orange County. And I think that’s what today continues to draw people to Orange County. We have the best quality of life of anywhere in the Hudson Valley and people want to come here. They want to lay here. They want to work here and they want to raise their families here and that takes a lot of hard work,” he said.

Sweeton, who has been town supervisor for over 17 years, acknowledged that this is the year that the Warwick Valley Office and Technology Park will make its mark with several companies already located on the former state prison site and others under development.
