PORT JERVIS – Police have charged a Huguenot woman with selling cocaine with fentanyl to a Port Jervis woman on May 31 prior to her death.

Ashley Parker, 27, was charged in the death of a 37-year-old woman in the City of Port Jervis.

Parker was charged with criminally negligent homicide, criminal possession and sale of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence.

The arrest stems from a joint investigation conducted by Port Jervis Police, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office, State Police, Deerpark Police and the Mid-Hudson FBI Safe Streets Task Force.

The investigation is continuing and police and prosecutors are awaiting the results of an autopsy and toxicology analysis by the medical examiner’s office.

Parker was arraigned and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. The case will be presented to a grand jury on Wednesday.

District Attorney David Hoovler said the opioid epidemic “continues to ravage our communities and those who sell opioids which cause the deaths of others must be held accountable for their actions.”
