TOWN OF WALLKILL – A Town of Wallkill man pled guilty to the misdemeanor of forcible touching in town court on Wednesday.

Joseph Retherford, 38, admitted that on December 28, 2018, in the vicinity of Scotchtown Collabar Road and Goshen Turnpike, he forcibly touched the intimate areas of a teenage girl while the victim was a passenger in his vehicle. He is scheduled to be sentenced in August and must register as a sex offender.

Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler credited Wallkill Town Police with investigating the case and arresting Retherford.

“Children are the most innocent of victims. We can only hope that this disposition, which spared the victim from having to testify, brings some measure of closure to the victim and the victim’s family,” Hoovler said.
