TOWN OF WALLKILL – Geritrex, LLC, a manufacturer of over-the-counter pharmaceuticals has given its 56 employees at its Town of Wallkill facility a 90-days that they will be laid off and the facility will be closing.

The company’s official reason as per the state labor department is that it “will be shifting to a virtual manufacturing model.”

Wallkill officials talked to company management on Thursday, said Town Supervisor Edward Diana.

“Because of a situation because the FDA said they now have to undertake stricter requirements on manufacturing and producing their products that they will be closing down their shop here sometime in August of this year,” Diana said. “They are still doing some investigations to see if they can manufacture it and repackage it in a different way.”

Short of that, a state filing said the company will close the Wallkill operation on August 18.

Geritrex moved from Westchester County to Orange County a few years ago.

Company officials did not return phone calls from Mid-Hudson News seeking comment about the company’s situation.
