Patriotism runs high as parades and services mark Memorial Day

MID-HUDSON – Parades and services highlighted the patriotic atmosphere during Monday’s Memorial Day celebration.

The day is set aside to honor those who have died while serving the country.

Marching bands, fire trucks, police officers and kids’ organizations all participated in the day’s salute.

There was even a return of motor vehicle side window American flags, which were plentiful

after the 911 attacks.

Memorial Day parade and service drew a large crowd at the annual Middletown-Wallkill event

Parade routes across the region were lined with families and veterans to salute as the colors marched by.

Many families enjoyed the beautiful weather to spend the day with family and friends at backyard barbeques.
