TOWN OF WALLKILL – It didn’t last long, but heavy rain and very strong winds uprooted trees, tore leaf-covered limbs from tree trunks and flipped over lawn chairs in yards.

The sudden storm rolled through the Town of Wallkill area around 6:30 Sunday evening.

In the Town of Deerpark, the Hawks Nest area was hit by heavy rain and strong winds with vehicles stranded between downed utility wires and tree limbs. A tree came down during the brief storm and struck a Town of Deerpark police car. There were no reports of injuries.

It also poured in other areas as it traveled swiftly through the region, bringing down branches.
