ALBANY – A Grahamsville woman, who is a teacher at the state’s Woodbourne Correctional Facility, has been charged with felony grand larceny for allegedly stealing over $5,000 from a fund that was created to set up a child care center for prison employees.

State Inspector General Letizia Tagliafierro said Patti Milisauskas, 53, took the money from a bank account that had sat dormant for years after the effort to set up the day care facility never got off the ground. Milisauskas was involved in the effort to establish the center for Woodbourne and nearby Sullivan Correctional Facility.

Authorities allege she used the stolen money for expenses related to show horses she rode, among other personal expenses.

Milisauskas was released on her own recognizance pending a future court appearance.

State Police assisted in the investigation and Sullivan County District Attorney James Farrell’s Office is prosecuting the case.
