STEWART AIRPORT – Armed with a $225,000 state grant, Hudson Valley Tourism, the umbrella organization for all county tourism bureaus in the region, is going to launch an international push aimed at making New York Stewart International Airport the gateway for overseas travelers.

Dutchess Tourism President Mary Kay Vrba told the Stewart Airport Commission on Tuesday that Stewart is “central” to bringing people into the region.

“Our target markets internationally are going to include Ireland and connecting countries, so we are going to working on targeting those areas with both media, with Google ad words, digital, social,” Vrba said. Also, we are going to target the domestic hub cities where flights from Stewart Airport are going into – Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Philly. We are also going to do a little bit with the daytrip audience.”

Acting Orange County Executive Harry Porr told the commission his county is exploring the allocation of funds to promote the county internationally in 2020.
