MONROE – The fifth annual blood drive in memory of Zachary Woods will be held this coming Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in busmobiles outside Monroe Free Library.
Organizers Judge Lori Currier Woods and her husband, Robert, are anticipating 125 donors.
Their son, who was 27, was struck by an impaired driver as he walked to class studying international trade and development in Philadelphia on May 6, 2014.
“He received excellent treatment in the hospital trying to save his life and received over 100 units of blood to try to keep him alive and so we’ve always felt like we want to give some of that blood back by raising a blood drive and hopefully maybe saving somebody’s life by allowing the blood they need to be there when they need it,” Robert Woods said. Prior to moving to Philadelphia, Zachary was an assistant general manager for the New York Regional Center in Shanghai China where he participated in raising over $1 billion of direct foreign investment into projects in New York. He was fluent in Mandarin and traveled extensively throughout China and Southeast Asia.
