CENTRAL VALLEY – Owners of Woodbury Common Premium Outlets laid out their plans for another major expansion of the facility on
Thursday.

The shopping center, which attracts over 13 million visitors annually, wants to add 165,000 square feet of retail space and add a five-level parking garage and expand the current four-level facility. There is also space in the plan for two 120-room hotels, a spa facility and 37,000 square feet of restaurant space.

Mall representatives told Orange County Chamber of Commerce members the expansion, once approved, would add some 1,000 new jobs as well as roughly 400 indirect and induced jobs in addition to over 1,600 construction jobs over the two-year period.

Chamber President Lynn Cione said the expansion will mean economic benefits beyond the mall as it will benefit neighboring businesses as well.

“If you live in Orange County, every one of your communities relies on that sales tax because it keeps your taxes down,” Cione said. “It’s another revenue stream for your communities.”

The proposed expansion is expected to generate over $22 million in sales tax annually. This would be the fifth expansion of the sprawling facility which opened in 1985.
