HYDE PARK – Now that phase-one construction is underway at Bellefield at Historic Hyde Park across from the Culinary Institute of America, developers have begun phase-two planning.

The initial phase consists of installing the infrastructure and construction of a 133-room Inn at Bellefield, which will be a lifestyle Residence Inn.

The total cost of the first phase is estimated at $60 million.

Second phase planning has now begun and that will include a five-story high-end hotel, said Thomas Mulroy, CEO of T-Rex Capital Group LLC.

“The second one will be a boutique hotel,” Mulroy said. “We are interviewing a lot of leading brands including Marriott and Hilton. Marriott has the Autograph, Hilton has the Curio, so we are interviewing a couple right now.”

That hotel will include a conference center, spa and other amenities.

Phase two will also include Bellefield’s Village Green, retail, residential, and commercial.

Hyde Park Town Supervisor Aileen Rohr said the project “will be an incredible enhancement to our tourism industry.” At buildout, Bellefield at Historic Hyde Park will be a $50 million hospitality, culinary and sustainable agrihood destination.
