Man electrocuted while trimming trees in Cortlandt

CORTLANDT – A Peekskill man was electrocuted mid-day on Sunday as he was trimming a tree and touched live overhead lines.

Police were called to the scene at noon for a report of a man who had fallen out of a tree.

Carlos Diaz, 56, who was hired by the property owner, was working on Gallows Hill Road in Cortlandt. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police were assisted at the scene by Cortlandt EMS, Westchester Medical Examiner’s Office, Central Hudson Gas and Electric Corporation, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
