CRAWFORD – Six weeks after some 9,000 gallons of fuel oil spilled following an accident on Route 17K in the Town of Crawford, environmental remediation continues.

Large equipment remains on the site next to a house and a sizeable area remained flooded last week with fuel oil as large containment revises remained.

The truck involved was from Terpening Trucking of Syracuse, the state Department of Environmental Conservation said. The company brought in two environmental remediation contractors to contain and remove the fuel and excavate the contaminated soil.
