EAST FISHKILL – A Dutchess County boy is dead and two other teens are being charged with manslaughter.
The victim was identified as Wilson Santiago, 15, of Wappinger. The two occupants, ages 16 and 17, were apprehended later Wednesday evening.
At around 4:10 p.m., a trooper was on patrol on Clove Branch Road near Henry Drive in Hopewell Junction when he saw Santiago clinging to the passenger side of an SUV. The trooper turned around to catch the vehicle, but stopped to render aid to Santiago, who was in the roadway. He died at the scene.
The 17-year-old was sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $200,000 cash bail or $400,000 bond. The 16-year-old is to appear in the Dutchess County Youth Part of court.
State Police were assisted at the scene by the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office and Town of East Fishkill Fire and EMS.
